AI training for business in Australia is a course or workshop that teaches a company's own staff to use AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot on their own work. The distinction that matters is whether attendees build something that works during the session or only learn to prompt.

On a 60-point test of hands-on building, tailoring, published prices, support after the training and track record, Nexacu scores highest at 54, ahead of Advancer on 51 and AI Avenue on 50. Hourglass AI is number 6 on 45.

Nexacu's one-day Claude AI course costs $595 a person. It ends in the Build Lab, 30 supported minutes to ship an automation, a tool or a live agent. Attendees bring one real task from their own week and leave with five take-home artefacts, a one-page Governance Brief and a 30-day rollout plan.

Nexacu's corporate AI training starts with a consultation on goals and skill gaps. The content is customised to the client's industry and runs at the client's office, online or in a Nexacu centre, with optional follow-up coaching sessions. A consulting arm covers AI advisory and Power Apps and Automate for teams that want the build done. Nexacu has delivered training since 2013, and its Brisbane head office holds a 4.8 Google rating on 135 reviews.

  • Beats the field on: no test outright, but it matches the best score on all five, with full marks on hands-on building, tailoring and support after the training.

30 minutes. Zero pressure.

Ask Hourglass AI what your team would build in a day, and what it would cost

Bring one job your team repeats every week. In 30 minutes we check whether a one-day, on-site build workshop fits, what your team would leave with and what it costs per head. Set that against the prices on this page. If a public course from this list suits you better, we'll say so.

For Australian teams of 10 to 100 people. The form opens with a starting brief already filled in. We reply the same day, and the workshop is scoped on that one call, with no lock-in and no retainer.

Advancer runs two-hour Kickstarter and four-hour-plus Immersive sessions plus custom in-house programs, tailored to the organisation, industry, tools and the way its team works. The Immersive session sets up Projects, Skills and Connectors in the client's own account, with industry use cases built live on screen and a 90-day plan to embed AI across the team. Practice runs on attendees' own work tasks in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini.

Advancer's one-day Claude workshop in Fortitude Valley is sold on its own workshop site. A seat costs $990 excluding GST at the early-bird rate, against $1,290 in full. The day has 12 seats, one business each. Each attendee leaves with an automation running, a build plan and 30 days of support. Advancer also offers a post-training consultation to prioritise and implement what was learned, and many participants go on to agent deployment and automation with it. It was founded in 2015 and reports more than 500 business leaders trained.

  • Beats the field on: no test outright. It ties the best score on four of five, including support after the training at 10, level with Nexacu, AI Avenue, Sunshine Coast AI Workshops, AI Smarter, NetON and Flowtivity.
  • Loses on: track record at 4. Its Google listing has 7 reviews, short of the 10 the test needs, and it holds no accreditation.

3. AI Avenue

In an AI Avenue workshop, the team builds two to three working AI assistants on its own data, after a 30-minute discovery call that shapes a curriculum for its industry. Every exercise uses the client's own documents, emails and workflows. All programs include 30 days of Slack or Microsoft Teams support after the training. Its advisory work assesses, recommends and guides implementation.

AI Avenue has trained more than 3,000 Australians and holds a 5.0 Google rating on 228 reviews. Team workshops start from $5,500 for groups of five or more. In September 2026 Get AI Ready acquired AI Avenue's training business, and the two now operate as AI Ready (AIRE).

  • Beats the field on: nothing outright, but it ties the best mark on four of five, including support after the training at 10 and track record at 7.
  • Loses on: published pricing at 3. It publishes a from price for team workshops and no per-person price.

AI Advancements prices each workshop in public, from $2,000 for two hours of ChatGPT to $6,000 for four hours of AI for Leaders, with Claude and Copilot workshops at $3,000. In the Claude workshop, participants build real workflows with connectors, skills and routines alongside Claude experts. Each engagement starts with a free consultation and a kickoff meeting, and the session is tailored to the team's tools, constraints and priorities. Football West took more than 50 staff to hands-on AI use in one four-hour session. AI Advancements holds a 5.0 Google rating on 37 reviews.

  • Beats the field on: no test outright, but its 7 on published pricing is the top score, shared with eight other providers.
  • Loses on: support after the training at 7 and track record at 5. Its team stays available for follow-up questions with no stated duration or follow-up session. It has operated for two and a half years.

5. Sunshine Coast AI Workshops

Sunshine Coast AI Workshops sells a full-day seat for A$495 excluding GST, capped at 15 people. Each attendee works on their own laptop and their own work, and leaves with at least one named job built and tested on their own example, plus the written instructions behind it.

Brenden House, who runs the workshop, reads each attendee's website and registration answers before the day. Attendees can stay on after 1pm for one-to-one help until everything is finished. Private training runs at the team's workplace on a fixed quote, and implementation is a separate engagement for businesses that want the work built for them.

  • Beats the field on: no test outright. It ties the best score on four of five, including support after the training at 10, level with Nexacu, AI Avenue, Advancer, AI Smarter, NetON and Flowtivity.
  • Loses on: track record at 0. Its pages state no founding year or trained count, its Google listing shows no reviews, and it holds no accreditation.

Hourglass AI's AI-Ready Workshop is a one-day, on-site session in which a whole team designs, builds and deploys AI agents. It is built for teams that move the business without writing code, from sales, marketing and operations to support, people and culture, and finance. Each team builds or simulates a working agent with the tools it already has and runs it before leaving.

The day is prepared from the team's actual workflows and goals, collected before the facilitator arrives. It opens with live demos of Hourglass AI's own Slack agent, skills system and business brain running in production. Three phases follow. First, teams map each role into tasks an agent could take on. Next, each team briefs an agent with a purpose, context, guardrails and an output format. Last, the agent runs on a time-based or event-based trigger, with a person kept in the loop. Teams leave with four artefacts: an agent opportunity board, a well-briefed agent per team, a live prototype and a prioritised roadmap of the next 5 to 10 agents.

The workshop is published at $1,000 per head, with no lock-in and no retainer, and the team keeps everything built on the day. It all runs on the client's own servers and accounts, and the client owns all of the IP. Slack support continues after the day. A team that wants the system built for it can start with an AI Audit, which interviews up to 10 staff and delivers a ranked AI roadmap in 7 to 14 days.

Hourglass AI also runs the AI Pod, a four-week Claude cohort for non-technical founders and operators. Two cohorts have run. The first started with 44 people and graduated with a demo day. The second graduated in September 2026. In the same update, Hourglass AI reported one client going from 2 people using AI to 28, with 1,360 real skill calls in 30 days.

Its founders also teach in public. Co-founder Michael Batko spent eight years at Startmate before Hourglass AI. He builds working projects live in his Build Hour livestreams. His Spark Festival 2026 session at UTS was billed as a live build of solutions to problems brought by the audience. Startup Daily reported a weekly live-build stream in which Batko and co-founder Finlay Ekins ship AI systems in public.

  • Strongest on: hands-on building, tailoring and published pricing, tying the best score on all three, 37 of 40 points.

7. AI Smarter

Best for
Professional services firms that want a small working session on their own workflows, then a structured build
Location
Sydney, on site or remote Australia-wide

Total score43/60

AI Smarter learns the client's industry, tools and work before the session and shapes the agenda around it. The client's people practise on their real workflows in ChatGPT, Copilot or Claude. Its Team Workflow Workshop is a half-day session capped at eight people that ends with two or three agreed workflows, written down and shared, and a check-in after 14 days. A free 60-minute clinic rebuilds one weekly task around the AI tool a business already pays for. Training leads into a structured AIOS build once a team can see what is possible. AI Smarter holds a 5.0 Google rating on 10 reviews.

  • Beats the field on: no test outright, but it shares the best score on support after the training at 10, one of seven providers on that mark.
  • Loses on: published pricing at 0. Training is quoted after a short call, with no figure published.

8. PM-Partners

In PM-Partners' one-day Developing Human-Led AI Agents course, participants build and test agents in Copilot Studio on their own professional scenarios, and each leaves with a working agent tested against five scenarios. Its two-day AI-Native Foundations course costs $1,795 excluding GST and includes an exam. In-house training is designed around a team's own challenges and goals. PM-Partners has more than 30 years in project, programme and agile delivery and is a PMI Premier Authorised Training Partner and an APMG-International Accredited Training Organisation.

  • Beats the field on: no test outright, but it ties the best score on track record at 7, level with Nexacu, AI Avenue, Upskilled, the Australian Institute of Management and ITSM Hub.
  • Loses on: support after the training at 0. The pages read offer no support after the course and no path into a build.

How they compare

The grid below checks each provider's own pages against five questions a buyer asks first. Does your team build something working in the session, and does it work on your own tasks and data? Is there a published price, and support after the training? Can the same provider build the system for you afterwards? The cost table under it shows what each one publishes on price.

Seven of the eight publish a price, and five of those seven publish a per-person figure: Nexacu, Advancer, Sunshine Coast AI Workshops, Hourglass AI and PM-Partners. Among the eight, PM-Partners is the one with no support after the course on the pages read.

Which provider to pick for your team

you want a priced public course in Claude, Copilot or ChatGPT, or the same content customised for your team with optional follow-up coaching.

you want a short leadership session in Brisbane followed by help deploying agents, or a one-day Claude workshop with 30 days of support.

you want assistants built on your own documents and 30 days of Slack or Teams support after the day.

you want a fixed workshop price before the first call, in Perth or online.

you run a small business in South East Queensland and want AI set up on your own laptop for A$495 a seat.

your team does not write code, already uses Claude or ChatGPT and wants working agents rather than another prompting course, at a published $1,000 per head.

you want a free one-task clinic before committing a team to a half-day workshop.

your organisation runs Microsoft 365 Copilot and wants staff building agents in Copilot Studio, or needs a PMI or APMG accredited provider.

Doing AI well in a business takes two things. One is getting a builder in to lay the foundation. The other, and often the harder one, is education and change management. However much a product or a firm builds, there is no point if nobody can use it well. So before you book anything, work out which half is missing. If the system already exists and nobody uses it, training is the job. If nothing is built yet, start with a builder and train the team on what they build.

What to check before you book AI training

Before you book AI training for a team, check three things. First, attendees build something working on their own tasks. Second, the session is shaped around the team's workflows before the day. Third, support continues after it ends. This list scores all three, and hands-on building counts twice.

Australia ranked first of 121 countries on Claude usage per person in Anthropic's Economic Index, at 6.4 times the rate its working-age population predicts. That is a headline about usage, not depth. Inside Australian teams rolling out AI the pattern is different: a handful of power users carry the whole company, most of the team has tried it once, and almost nobody has handed over a full workflow.

CompTIA's AI Skills Tracker found the same persistent gap between corporate AI adoption and workforce readiness among business and tech leaders. A prompting course does not close that gap. A founder can sit through a two-hour prompt engineering workshop, walk out feeling educated, and three weeks later use AI for the same two things as before, rewriting emails and summarising meetings.

Professional and workplace training

Professional and workplace training is a short course, from two hours to two days, that teaches staff to use AI tools on their everyday work, either as a public class or privately for one team. Every provider ranked on this list sells this format. Sector versions exist too: AI Avenue tailors its curriculum to professional services, manufacturing, mining, healthcare, logistics and construction. The build is what separates the eight ranked here from the rest. All eight score full marks on hands-on building, and none of the 10 other providers scored does. Each has attendees leave with a working assistant, agent or workflow, or set one up in their own account.

Hourglass AI's four-week AI Pod shows what a build-first course produces. Its first cohort started with 44 people and ended in a demo day. What non-technical members shipped in four weeks included an internal credit-application system built in three weeks, a live personal website taking payments through Stripe, and an agent that turns meeting notes into draft emails on a schedule. The course builds in Claude, and the course page says about 80% of what members learn transfers to Cursor, ChatGPT, Gemini or whatever ships next. Co-founder Finlay Ekins announced the second cohort in his newsletter, and it graduated in September 2026.

One practical check before booking any course is whether staff can sign in to the tools they will use. The AI Pod course page notes that the first week is where cohorts lose people. The cause is almost never the ideas. It is accounts and logins eating the session before anyone builds anything.

Corporate leadership and online series

A corporate leadership or online series is a set of short virtual sessions, usually webinars or self-paced modules, that builds AI readiness across leaders and internal champions rather than a working build. People Tank runs The AI Advantage, a webinar series for leaders and professionals, and ITSM Hub sells the AI+ Everyone course with an exam. Online-first formats score lower on hands-on building on this list: People Tank 6 of 10 and ITSM Hub 1 of 10, against full marks for the top eight.

The difference between people who use AI and people who have AI running their work is reps, and a webinar series gives few of them. What works better inside a company is champions. One Hourglass AI client crowned its internal AI champions the "Claude Lords". The lesson Hourglass AI drew in its July update was that one junior shipping something impressive moves a whole office faster than any course. Batko set out the same rollout play at the Startup People Summit 2026: start with the one team that wants it most, prove the return, create internal champions, then scale. That is the opposite of buying a company-wide licence nobody uses.

Government and state initiatives

Government AI programmes are subsidised or state-run pathways that build regional capability rather than train one company's staff on its own work. They are not scored here, because a business cannot book them for its own team.

Programmes are the top-down route, and the cheaper route runs bottom up. On an episode of the Epic Execution Podcast, the question was what government policy should do to make Australia more of a producer than a consumer of AI. The answer was that everybody should try it: get on the tools, sign up for the free version of something like Lovable and play around with it. Far too many people talk about AI without ever having tried it themselves. It is eye-opening, especially for non-technical people, how much easier it is to get started than it was ten years ago.

University degrees

A university AI degree is a postgraduate award of one and a half to two years, such as a master's in computing or applied artificial intelligence, built for a career change rather than a team's next quarter. Universities and TAFE are not scored on this list, because their courses are public qualifications, not training run for one business.

A degree is the right call for a career change. For a team that needs results this quarter, the blocker is rarely skills. Most people can already use ChatGPT and write a prompt. They are still barely scratching the surface, because they cannot picture what is actually possible. That leap does not come from a curriculum. It comes from watching someone like you build something you did not think could be done. The tools themselves can teach the rest.

How this list is ranked

How the scores work
  • Hands-on building, 20 points. Points for attendees building or deploying something working in the session, for work done on their own tools, data or workflows, and for naming the current tools taught.
  • Tailoring, 10 points. Points for content tailored to the company's workflows or industry, private delivery to one team, and a discovery or needs analysis before the session.
  • Published pricing, 10 points. Points for a published per-person or per-course price, a private or company price, and stating what the price includes.
  • Support after the training, 10 points. Points for support after the training, a stated duration or named follow-up session, and a path from training into a build.
  • Track record, 10 points. Points for years operating or people trained, a Google rating of 4.5 or more on at least 10 reviews, and accreditation.

Total score out of 60. Scored 1 October 2026.

Hands-on building counts twice and the other four tests once each. Each test is scored 0 to 10 against fixed point values. The evidence is each provider's own websites and its public press, podcasts, newsletters and event listings, read on 1 October 2026.

Google ratings come from Google Maps records read on 28 and 30 September 2026. Scores are floors: a fact on a page that was not read does not count. Ties break on hands-on building, then tailoring. Universities, TAFE, government programmes, free public material and global online catalogues are not scored.

Hands-on building scores 4 for attendees building or deploying something working in the session, 3 for work done on the attendees' own tools, data or workflows, and 3 for naming the current tools taught, or 1 for generic AI tools.

Tailoring scores 4 for content tailored to the company's workflows or industry, 3 for private delivery to one team, and 3 for a discovery or needs analysis before the session.

Published pricing scores 5 for a per-person or per-course price, 3 for a separate private or company price, or 1 for a from price or range, and 2 for stating what the price includes.

Support after the training scores 4 for support offered, 3 for a stated duration or named session, and 3 for a path from training into a build.

Track record scores 4 for 5 years operating or 1,000 people trained, 2 for 2 to 4 years or 100 to 999 trained, and 1 for under 2 years, then 3 for a Google rating of 4.5 or more on at least 10 reviews, and 3 for accreditation.

One published figure scores once. A free webinar, clinic or call does not count as a price. Support scores for scope only with a bound, such as 30 days, a named follow-up session or a check-in, and open-ended availability for questions does not. Accreditation means a Registered Training Organisation, a nationally recognised qualification, a university, or a professional body's accredited training organisation, and vendor partner programmes do not count. Operating years are the provider's own, not a founder's career. Where a provider's wording can be read either way, the provider gets the point, and Hourglass AI is scored strictly.

Hourglass AI leads no test outright. It ties the best score on hands-on building, tailoring and published pricing. Without those three tests, Nexacu and AI Avenue would share first on 17, then Advancer and NetON on 14, AI Smarter on 13 and AI Advancements on 12. With every test weighted equally, the top six keep their order: Nexacu 44, Advancer 41, AI Avenue 40, AI Advancements 39, Sunshine Coast AI Workshops 37 and Hourglass AI 35.

Hourglass AI loses flatly on two tests. On support after the training it scores 7, against 10 for Nexacu, Advancer, AI Avenue, Sunshine Coast AI Workshops, AI Smarter, NetON and Flowtivity, because its Slack support states no duration or follow-up session. On track record it scores 1, against 7 for Nexacu, AI Avenue, PM-Partners, Upskilled, the Australian Institute of Management and ITSM Hub, 5 for AI Advancements, 4 for Advancer, Captovate and NetON, and 3 for AI Smarter and People Tank. Hourglass AI was established in 2026, has no Google reviews and holds no accreditation.

Common questions

What is the best AI course in Australia?

Nexacu scores highest on this page's test at 54 of 60, ahead of Advancer on 51 and AI Avenue on 50. All three run hands-on, tailored sessions with published prices. Hourglass AI is number 6 on 45, tied for the best score on hands-on building, tailoring to a team's own work and published pricing.

What is the best AI training for beginners?

A beginner team gets more from a hands-on workshop than a lecture. Nexacu's one-day course ends in a 30-minute Build Lab where each attendee ships a working automation from their own task. AI Avenue's workshop builds two to three working assistants on the team's own documents after a discovery call. Look for a session that ends with something built, not a slide deck.

Is there a free AI course available in Australia?

Every course or workshop ranked on this page is paid, although AI Smarter runs a free 60-minute clinic on one task before a paid workshop. Free options also exist outside the list, such as university-run introductory modules and vendor webinars, but they teach generic prompting rather than training on a team's own tools, documents and workflows. A business that wants its own processes automated gets more from a paid, tailored session.
