The best AI automation for Australian insurance brokers in 2026 is V7 Go, which scores 48 out of 70, ahead of Infraworx and Hourglass AI on 45. AI automation for insurance brokers is software or a built service that takes admin such as renewal prep, certificates of currency, endorsements and claims lodgement off a brokerage's team, working from the firm's own policy data, documents and inboxes.

If renewal season means re-keying into insurer portals and chasing certificates of currency, this is a scored shortlist of who can take that admin off your team. The rubric is built for a broker of 5 to 50 staff with no engineer, and it scores vendors and local implementers on the same seven tests. Infraworx ranks second on the tie-break because it scores higher on the two insurance-specific tests. Hourglass AI, the publisher of this page, builds and runs AI automation for firms without engineers.

Most lists of AI tools for brokers stop at naming software. The guide to AI tools for Australian insurance brokers from aiwe (7 August 2026) lists Winbeat, Sunrise, ChatGPT, Claude and Acrobat with no scores and no implementers. This page prints every weight and every point.

AI for insurance brokers in Australia: what they want automated

The jobs that eat a broker's week are well documented. Lakitha Sahan of Zatersio names four jobs that "never earn commission" (26 May 2026). They are re-keying between the CRM and insurer portals, chasing certificates of currency, triaging endorsements, and comparing PDS documents at renewal. His worked example takes 800 SME policies from about 40 minutes of renewal prep each to about 8, which frees more than 400 hours a year.

The pressure is also coming from outside the brokerage. Insurance Business Australia reports on Konkrd's autonomous health insurance sale in "AI brokers are here" (2026). In the same piece, Tego CEO Eric Lowenstein says brokers win when "meaningfully improving the decision, not just the process".

Claims automation and underwriting AI for brokers

Claims lodgement and underwriting submissions are the next layer after renewals. Of the three options, only V7 Go names both on its insurance use cases page. It promises to "reduce FNOL processing time from days to hours" and to "Turn broker submissions into faster underwriting decisions". Infraworx names compliance and onboarding work instead, and Hourglass AI's public pages name neither.

Hourglass AI publishes this page. It ranks third because that is where the locked rubric put it. No weight was changed after scoring.

A broker with one or two simple jobs can try ChatGPT, Claude or Acrobat AI on their own before hiring anyone. None of these connect to insurer portals or a broker management system on their own.

V7 Go is a document agent platform with agents built for insurance. A Head of AI at a tech-forward insurance brokerage says on V7's pricing page: "Building this in-house would've cost us $2M and 18 months. V7 had us live in six weeks."

V7 covers the core broker jobs in its insurance use cases. It promises to "reduce FNOL processing time from days to hours" and to "Turn broker submissions into faster underwriting decisions". It also covers "Automating renewals, endorsements, and compliance checks across legacy systems". It reads "ACORDs, loss runs, policies and rent rolls read at line level", with "every number cited to source". On data, it offers "private deployment" and states "Integrations, governance and audit trail included".

Wins on: insurance jobs (10), systems (10), firm context (10) and insurance proof (6).

Loses on: price and who builds it. There is no published price, only "Get a custom quote". Builds run through "Their Solutions Engineers" rather than a team that runs it for you. V7's systems examples lean to large carriers ("Most carriers run on platforms like Guidewire, Duck Creek") rather than Australian broker management systems.

Infraworx is a Sydney managed IT and AI implementer. Its finance and insurance page is the only one in this set to name Australian broker systems. It "Works with Applied Epic , XPLAN , Coin , Steadfast network tools, and insurer portals". Infraworx says "we deploy AI automation solutions" and that its "AI platform is self-hosted on your own infrastructure", with audit trails. Named jobs include "Automated Compliance & Regulatory Reporting" and "AI-Powered Client Onboarding & KYC". It publishes an ongoing price: "Most finance and insurance firms invest between $500-$2,000 per month".

Wins on: systems (10) and built for you (10). Ranked second on the tie-break.

Loses on: insurance proof (0) and price. The insurance results on its page are labelled "Real-World Scenario", so they are not client results. Build and entry prices are not published. Its renewal coverage appears only as a problem it describes ("Policy renewal tracking relies on spreadsheets and memory"). Most of the Infraworx home page sells managed IT and backup rather than AI automation.

Hourglass AI builds and runs AI automation for a firm on top of a company brain: a searchable store of the firm's emails, files, notes and CRM, on its own server. It is built for teams without engineers.

Strengths:

  • Firm context (10). On its AI brain page, "A brain inbox continuously ingests your emails, files, meeting notes, CRM" to form a "single source of truth", and answers come "with the source attached".
  • Data and governance (7). The brain is "hosted on your own server". Anything "sensitive or structural waits in a review inbox for a human's approval before it's written".
  • Built for you (10). Hourglass AI builds the system and maintains it. It connects to "Everything you already run", including Xero, Salesforce, Dropbox and Microsoft 365.
  • Published price (10). It is the only option here with build and ongoing prices both on its home page, with builds listed at $5k to $25k each and maintenance at about $1,000 a month.
  • Results. Its results page quotes a client co-founder outside insurance saying Hourglass "decreased our administration costs by 40%".

What to check before you hire or buy one

  1. Does it cover your actual jobs? Renewal prep, certificates of currency, endorsements, quote intake, claims lodgement, breach reporting and client onboarding.
  2. Does it work with your systems? A named broker management system or insurer portal beats a generic integration list.
  3. Where does client data sit? Look for private or local hosting, an audit trail, human review and no training on your data.
  4. Does it answer from your own documents and inboxes, with the source shown?
  5. Who builds and runs it? A team that builds and runs it for you saves a firm with no engineer the most time.
  6. Is the price published? Both the build and the monthly cost.
  7. Is there insurance proof? A named insurance client with a result is the strongest signal.

How the three options were scored

How the scores work
  • Insurance jobs, 10 points. Two points per insurance job the entry's pages say it runs, up to 10: renewals or pre-renewal prep, certificates of currency or endorsements, quote or submission intake, claims FNOL, compliance or breach reporting, and onboarding or KYC.
  • Systems, 10 points. Points for naming a broker management system, insurer core platform or insurer portals (5), naming a general stack such as Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Xero or Gmail (3), and building on systems the firm already runs (2).
  • Data and governance, 10 points. Points for keeping data in the client's infrastructure or in Australia, or a private deployment (4), an audit trail or human review before writes (3), and stating that client data never trains models (3).
  • Firm context, 10 points. Points for answering or drafting from the firm's own documents and inboxes (4), joining more than one source (3), and outputs that cite their source (3).
  • Built for you, 10 points. 10 if it builds and runs the system for the client, 5 for a vendor solutions or onboarding team, 0 for self-serve.
  • Published price, 10 points. 10 if build and ongoing prices are both published, 5 for one of them, 0 for quote only.
  • Insurance proof, 10 points. 10 for a named insurance client with a result, 6 for an anonymised insurance client with a specific result that is not a labelled scenario, 3 for a named client with a result in another industry, 0 for none.

Total score out of 70. Scored 3 October 2026.

The buyer is an Australian insurance broker of 5 to 50 staff with no engineer. That includes AFSL holders and authorised reps, often in a network such as Steadfast. It also includes small insurers and underwriting agencies.

Each option was scored on seven tests. Each test is worth 0 to 10 points, all weighted the same. The total is out of 70. The point rules were written down before any option was scored.

On an ambiguous line, the rival gets the point. Each option needs a verifiable business and at least one named client before it is scored. Ties break on insurance jobs first, then insurance proof.

Where rivals beat Hourglass AI

Hourglass AI leads on published price and ties the top score on firm context and built for you. Without the two insurance-specific tests, Hourglass AI would total 42, Infraworx 39 and V7 Go 32. With them, V7 Go leads.

Rivals beat Hourglass AI on three tests. On insurance jobs it scores 0 against 10 for V7 Go. On systems it scores 5 against 10 for V7 Go and Infraworx. On insurance proof it scores 3 against 6 for V7 Go. Hourglass AI publishes no insurance or broker build, names no broker management system or insurer portal, and its named result comes from outside insurance.

Where this page fits

Shift Technology serves enterprise carriers, which puts it outside a 5 to 50 staff brokerage. Winbeat and Sunrise are broker management systems rather than automation providers. Konkrd is a digital broker, and insurers are buyers rather than providers. ChatGPT, Claude and Acrobat AI are covered above as a starting point for simple jobs.

Common questions

What is the best AI automation for insurance brokers in Australia?

V7 Go, with 48 out of 70. It covers the most insurance jobs, from FNOL to renewals, and carries an insurance brokerage testimonial. Infraworx and Hourglass AI tie on 45.

How is AI used by insurance brokers?

Mostly on admin that earns no commission. Zatersio lists re-keying between the CRM and insurer portals, chasing certificates of currency, triaging endorsements and comparing PDS documents at renewal. Claims automation and underwriting AI are the next layer, such as V7's claim to cut FNOL processing "from days to hours".

Can AI replace insurance brokers?

Not on current evidence. Insurance Business Australia reports one digital broker, Konkrd, completing an autonomous health insurance sale. Tego CEO Eric Lowenstein says brokers win when "meaningfully improving the decision, not just the process". That points to AI taking the admin while the broker keeps the advice.

How much does AI automation cost for a brokerage?

Of the three options, Infraworx says most firms invest $500 to $2,000 a month. Hourglass AI publishes builds at $5k to $25k each and about $1,000 a month to maintain. V7 Go quotes on request.
