Role filled · applications open
Build AI where the work happens.
Forward-deployed engineers at Hourglass work in person with client teams, turn messy business problems into useful AI tools, and build with the people who will use them.
We've hired our forward-deployed engineer.
You can still apply. We review applications ad hoc, and we'll have more roles in the future.

Small team. Close to the work.
You'll join the Hourglass team and work in person with your first client. As the work develops, there may be scope to build with different clients over time.
Meet the teamThe gap between AI strategy and working software.
That's where you come in. A company can have the right AI foundations and still need someone to build the tools that fit the way it actually works.
Get inside the workflow
Sit with a client team. Ask questions, watch the work, and find the problem worth solving.
Build what is missing
Turn that problem into a working AI workflow or custom tool. Sometimes that's a dashboard. Sometimes it's a new way to run a whole process.
Ship it with the people using it
Work in the room, get feedback early, and make sure the thing you built is useful after you leave.
You'll have the Hourglass team around you for technical direction and strategy. A conventional coding background is not required. You do need to ship useful AI tools, ask good questions, and communicate clearly with the people who use them.
Just talk to the camera.
No cover letter. Record a video of five minutes or under on your phone or laptop, then paste a shareable link. Screenshare if you can; no polished demo is needed.
Tell us:
- Why you'd make a great forward-deployed engineer, and the industries you know best.
- Something you've built with AI that you're proud of. Show it or talk us through it, and tell us what you personally did.
- Why Hourglass.
We care about how you think and communicate, not your camera setup.
